Listen to Obituary

With broken hearts, we share the unexpected passing of James "Jimmy" Bryan Johnson, who left us too soon on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 60.

Jimmy was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 1, 1965, to John William Johnson and Theresa B. Heritage. He later made his home in Seminole, FL, where he lived for more than 30 years.

To know Jimmy was to love him. His infectious smile, easy laugh, and playful humor lit up every room he walked into. He lived big, loved deeply, and never met a stranger. He will be remembered not for how his life ended, but for how he lived-with generosity, grit, and a heart wide open for family and friends.

Jimmy wore many hats in his life-commercial fisherman, carpenter, landscaper, and the ultimate "MacGyver" who could fix just about anything. But more than anything, he was most proud of being Dad to his daughter, Karly. He cheered her on in every season, especially as she chased her music dreams, always her biggest fan.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Karly Lynn Johnson; his brothers, John M. Johnson and Joseph S. Johnson; his sister, Joanna "Pea" Mitchell; along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a huge circle of friends who will never forget him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Pete Vineyard Church, 5000 10th Street N, St. Petersburg, FL 33703, at 4:00 pm. Afterward, the family invites all who loved Jimmy to gather at Crabby Bill's, Indian Rocks Beach, FL, beginning at 5:30 pm, to share stories, laughter, and memories.

Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Simplicity Burial & Oklahoma Cremation Centers. Friends and family may leave condolences and kind words of comfort at https://www.simplicityburialcremation.com
