James Stage Jr.

James Stage Jr., 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, in Owasso, Oklahoma. He was born on October 4, 1956, to James Stage Sr. and Dorothy (Cartwright) Stage in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

James was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest and never seemed to run out of a good story to tell. He was generous with his time, his talents, and his heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved. Around the neighborhood, James became known as the "handyman," happily helping friends and neighbors with whatever task needed to be done.

One of the most special friendships in James' life was with his lifelong friend, Debbie Hedges. The two first met at a skating rink and quickly became best friends. Although life took them in different directions for a number of years, their paths eventually crossed again in an unexpected way. James and Debbie remained close friends and shared many memories over the years, including evenings together at the casino and, toward the end of James' life, trips to Golden Corral. Their friendship, along with James' sister, became a cherished support system for one another.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends who will miss his generosity, his stories, his helping hands, and the joy he brought into their lives. Those left to cherish his memory include his lifelong friend, Debbie Hedges; his son, Timothy Stage; his daughter, Kaylyn Stage; his stepchildren, Jeremy and Dwayne; his granddaughter, Day Day; and his two great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends.

James will be remembered as a kindhearted and generous man who was always willing to help, always ready with a story, and who made the most of the life he was given. His memory will live on in the many people he helped and the countless lives he touched.
