Jimmy Darrell "J.D." Dick passed away peacefully at his home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on December 30, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
J.D. was born on June 13, 1953, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Jimmy Dick and Emily (Stevens) Morrison. From the start, he was a force of personality-outgoing, stubborn (worth mentioning twice), strong, intelligent, and deeply kind-hearted. If you needed help, J.D. was already there, likely offering you the shirt off his back.
As a young man, J.D. loved talking about helping his Uncle Tom work horses, an experience that sparked a lifelong love for them. Horses weren't just animals to him-they were old friends. He also loved fishing, finding peace and joy near the water, rod in hand, enjoying the quiet moments as much as the stories that came from them.
A hardworking man to his core, J.D. worked right up until his passing as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic-a job that suited his grit, skill, and determination perfectly.
Above all else, J.D. adored his wife, Julie. As she continues bravely through her cancer treatments, J.D.'s greatest concern was always her well-being. Even while facing his own health struggles, he never stopped trying to take care of her and make sure she was okay. One of Julie's favorite memories is from during her treatments. She has several wigs. One day, she looked over to see J.D. sitting in his chair wearing one of her wigs. They locked eyes, burst into laughter, and captured the moment in a photo that will forever reflect the joy and love they shared. Another treasured memory is dancing with J.D.-something they did all the way to his passing.
J.D. is survived by his loving wife, Julie Dick; his sister, Sara Jane Kilgore; his daughter, Sandra Bennett; his son, T.J. Dick; his grandchildren, Skyly, Star, Kelsey, and Jacob; and his great-grandson, Poet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Dick and Emily Morrison; his brother, Tommy Dick; and several uncles.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kellyville First Baptist Church, located at 306 E. Camden St. Kellyville, OK 74039, on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 10am.
J.D. will be remembered for his laughter, his generosity, his stubborn determination, his love of horses and fishing, and the way he made people feel seen and cared for. Though he is no longer with us, the love and humor he shared will continue to surround those who knew him.
