John Roy Harbison passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His steady presence, gentle spirit, and generous heart touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.
John was born on October 10, 1949, in Hildago County, Texas, to Lee Roy and Margaret Harbison. From an early age, he was shaped by the love, guidance, and values instilled in him by his parents-principles of hard work, loyalty, and dedication to family that he carried with him throughout his life.
Above all else, John was a devoted family man. He was a loving father to his three children: Shannon Jones and her husband Davy; Shane Harbison and his wife Jennifer; and John Brandon Harbison. He took immense pride in his children and found great happiness in watching them grow, succeed, and build families of their own. His guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love were the foundation upon which they stood.
John was a proud and loving grandfather to Ty Runge, Wyatt Jones, Ashley Pearson, and Clay Harbison. Each of them brought light and laughter into his life. He was further blessed with great-grandchildren Kolton Kerr, JP Pearson, and Trinity Runge, who carried forward his legacy of love into the next generation. Being "Grandpa" and "Great-Grandpa" was one of his greatest joys.
He is survived by his brothers Jimmy Harbison and his wife Marilyn, Rick Harbison and his wife Evon, and Randy Harbison and his wife Janet.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Vicky Harbison, as well as his parents, Lee Roy and Margaret Harbison, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the stories shared around family tables, in the values he instilled, and in the love he gave so freely and unconditionally.
A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the remarkable life he lived.
He will forever remain in our hearts.
