John James Jacobs, age 68, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Born on September 18, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland, John was the son of Joseph James Jacobs Sr. and Lillian Mary (Weiss) Jacobs. He was the middle child of five boys and grew up in a close-knit family that remained important to him throughout his life.
John graduated from Dundalk Senior High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy following graduation. After completing his military service, he returned home and went to work for Bethlehem Steel, where he held a variety of positions throughout his years at the steel mill.
From a young age, John loved sports. He played both soccer and baseball and earned a spot on an All-Star baseball team. Unfortunately, he was unable to participate in the All-Star game because of responsibilities at the horse track where his father worked. There, John worked as a hot walker, helping cool down horses after races and workouts, learning the value of hard work and responsibility at an early age.
John had a lifelong passion for music that was unmatched by those who knew him. He loved attending concerts and could often tell you every member of a band, every album they recorded, and nearly every song they ever released. One favorite family memory recalled by his brother Jim was when John managed to get second-row seats to see Bob Seger—a story that became legendary because of how excited he was to be so close to one of his musical heroes.
Beyond music, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. In his adult years, he devoted time to caring for his mother as she grew older. The two shared many special memories together, including several cruises that allowed them to see new places and enjoy each other's company.
John will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, his love of music, his adventurous spirit, and his devotion to family. He lived life on his own terms and left lasting memories with those who knew and loved him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph James Jacobs Sr. and Lillian Mary (Weiss) Jacobs.
He is survived by his brothers, Joseph, Jeffery, James, and Jerome Jacobs, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Though he is gone from our sight, the stories, laughter, music, and memories he shared will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
