In Loving Memory of
Joyce Annie "Ann" Hanes
May 24, 1949 - November 7, 2025

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Joyce Annie "Ann" Hanes, who left this world on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at 5:29 p.m. She lived her 76 years with a rare combination of elegance, strength, kindness, and grit, touching countless lives along the way.

Born on May 24th, 1949, in Keota, Oklahoma, to Ethel Conner-Clark and Roy Clark, Joyce was the youngest of thirteen children. Even from her earliest years, she embodied a strong work ethic, compassion, and bravery-qualities that guided her throughout her life.

Her life became a testament to service. Joyce devoted her heart and hands to others as a hospice nurse and long-term caregiver, offering comfort, dignity, and love to those in their most vulnerable moments. Her instinct to nurture never wavered. She took in people and animals throughout her life, providing a safe place, a warm meal, and a soft landing to anyone who needed one.

She was tough, brave, and incredibly hardworking, yet she carried the biggest heart. Her grace was matched only by her style-Joyce was an impeccable dresser, always looking beautiful, polished, and effortlessly elegant. But behind that poise was a spark of mischief. She was famously ornery, loved a good prank, and delighted in making people laugh.

Family was her greatest joy. She poured endless love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, teaching them the value of working hard, cooking well, maintaining a home, and surviving whatever life might bring. Her wisdom will echo through generations.

Joyce is survived by her cherished daughters, Patty Ann Kinsey and Kathy Marie Welch.

Patty is the mother of Briana Kinsey, Jessica Tarkington, Samantha Rouell (husband John), Wesley Thornburg (wife Autumn), Preston Thornburg, and Jackson Thornburg.

Kathy is the mother of Christopher Welch (wife Brette) and Tiffany Welch.

She leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her and were endlessly loved in return.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings: Roy Clark, Paul Clark, Bobby Ray Clark, Lucile Clark, Mary Georgia Clark, Dorotha Nell Montgomery, Glenda Fay Clark, Gladys Marie (Pat) Coker, and Henry Wesley Clark.

She is survived by her loving sisters, Martha Sue Clark-Blackwell and Shirley Mae Clark-Parker, as well as her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whose lives were forever shaped by her.

Though our hearts ache, we celebrate a life lived fully, boldly, and beautifully. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, courage, and a touch of orneriness that we will carry with us always. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those she has missed dearly.

Her presence in our lives was a gift, and her memory will remain a steady light for every generation that follows.

Details of her services will be announced at a later date as our family takes time to mourn. If you have photos or cherished memories of Joyce, we welcome you to share them with us.
