Karen Janene Halstead Wilson passed away on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, in Tulsa, OK, after a battle with cancer. She was 85. 

Karen was the daughter of Virginia and Elmer George Halstead and is survived by her brother, Bill Halstead, of Bluffton, SC; sister, Barbara Prewitt, of Dallas, TX; and her two sons, Craig Edkins of Fayetteville, GA, and Mark Wilson of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by her half-brother Jorge Halstead of Tulsa and four grandchildren.

Karen was born on October 10th, 1940, in Fairview, Ok. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1958. She attended both Oklahoma State and the University of Oklahoma, graduating from the latter in 1967 with a degree in education. She began teaching soon after at Fairview Middle School where she taught junior high Reading, English, and Library Studies. Karen affected many students in her 23 years of teaching in Fairview. She left Fairview in 1991 to teach for seven years at the Department of Defense school in Ramey, PR, before retiring to Tulsa.

Karen will be interred at the Fairview cemetery. In lieu of condolences, please thank your favorite teacher.
