Sims Gerald Dildy, Jr., 64, passed away in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Born to Sims Gerald Dildy, Sr. of Texarkana, TX, and Marnelle Thomsen of Springfield, MO, Sims is predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his sister, Christine Dildy Fail of Melfa, VA, who will always remember his good-natured personality and the experiences they shared growing up together.
Sims spent part of his early adulthood as a student at the University of Arkansas. Throughout most of his adult life, he faced the difficult challenges of paranoid schizophrenia. Even amid those struggles, Sims remained a kind and thoughtful presence in the lives of those around him. He had a remarkable memory for birthdays and never missed an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the people he cared about. He also held on to his Christian faith through the good and difficult times.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to those who were instrumental in supporting him through his illness: McKim Williams, Jr., Dash Goff, Michael Holland, and Karlton Kemp. There were countless other "angels" throughout his life who took him under their wings-too numerous to name but never forgotten.
Sims' ashes will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Texarkana, TX, where he will rest peacefully near his family.
