Listen to Obituary

Thelma Lucille Campo, 76, of Oilton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2026.

Thelma was born on October 28, 1949, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Elvin Farris Shipman and Elouise Robertson Shipman. She grew up in Hallett, Oklahoma, where she attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1968.

Quiet as a child but mischievous at heart, Thelma quickly became known for her ornery nature, quick wit, and love of giving people a hard time-all in good fun. She had a sharp sense of humor, loved making jokes, and never missed an opportunity to tease those she loved most. Beneath that ornery streak was a deeply giving and compassionate soul.

On November 1, 1972, Thelma married John Webber. From this union came three amazing sons: twins John and Allen, and Jason. Though the marriage did not last, Thelma remained devoted to her children. After her first marriage, she moved to Enid, Oklahoma, where she dedicated 25 years of her life working as a caregiver for the mentally challenged at Enid State School. She officially retired on March 31, 2005, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, patience, and service to others.

Later, on February 7, 1990, Thelma married Richard "Sharkey" Campo. Their marriage was filled with love and companionship and lasted until Sharkey's passing.

Growing up, Thelma attended Hallett First Baptist Church and remained grounded in the values of faith and family throughout her life. She came from a large, tight-knit family with five sisters and three brothers. Her siblings fondly recall countless stories of her ornery behavior-often joking that they had to lock her out of the house because she was that ornery. That mischievous spirit followed her well into adulthood.

One favorite family memory tells of a large family gathering where nearly 50 relatives were attempting to take a group photo. Thelma, not the fastest on her feet, grabbed onto her great great niece for support-only to discover the child never stopped moving. The result was Thelma tumbling out of her chair. There she was, laughing on the floor, struggling to get up, when Ben-standing 6'4"-asked, "You want some help up?" Without missing a beat, Thelma replied, "Well yes!" perfectly capturing her quick wit and unshakable humor.

Thelma is survived by her sons, John Webber; Allen Webber and wife Darla; and Jason Webber; her sisters, Sharon Parson and husband Tom, Martha Buntin and husband Steve, Linda Shipman, and Michele Coon and husband Troy; her brother, Jim Shipman and wife Peggy; her grandchildren, Zoey, Zack, Christian, Olivia, and Leah; and many beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Sharkey" Campo; her parents, Elvin Farris Shipman and Elouise Shipman; her sister, Ellen Orcutt; and her brothers, Elvin Shipman and Charles Shipman.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Thelma will be remembered for her ornery grin, her generous heart, and the laughter she brought into every room she entered. Her family takes comfort knowing that her jokes, love, and spirit will live on in all who knew her.
