With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the passing of Tommy "Boonie" Lee Hunt Jr. on July 15, 2025, at the age of 59.
Born on November 11, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tommy was the beloved son of Tommy Hunt Sr. and Shirley "Wiley" Hunt. A proud graduate of East Central High School, Tommy was known from a young age for his humor, warm spirit, and natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
On September 25, 2008, Tommy married the love of his life, Shekeema Jones. Together, they built a beautiful and loving family, and Tommy found his greatest joy in being a husband and father. His family was his world, and he poured his heart into every moment spent with them.
Tommy made his living as a professional truck driver, a career he took great pride in. He was known for his work ethic, reliability, and the stories he brought home from work. When he wasn't working, Tommy was often found in his element behind the grill. His passion for barbecuing was matched only by the smiles he brought to others through his food and his infectious sense of humor.
Sports were another of Tommy's great loves. He was an enthusiastic fan of both basketball and football, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens, with unwavering loyalty.
Tommy will be remembered most for his light-hearted spirit, his ability to lift others with a joke or a kind word, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence brightened every room, and his laughter was truly contagious.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Hunt Sr., whom he now joins in eternal peace.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Shekeema Jones, his ten children: Michael, Tommy III, Tyeshaun, Treyon, Netanya, Ronetta, Andrea, Jeremiah, JaQuan, and Jarrod. His thirteen grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his loving mother, Shirley "Wiley" Hunt, siblings, Myra, Latrice, Christa, Cathy, and Lisa, and a host of extended family and friends.
Tommy "Boonie" Lee Hunt Jr. will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, extended family, and the many friends and lives he touched throughout the years.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his laughter echo in our hearts forever.
