It is with heavy hearts that we announce Walter F. Weakley Jr., age 54, gained his golden wings on Thursday April 16th, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on May 2nd 1971 to Walter F. Weakley, Sr. and Deborah Riley (Chaney) in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Walter grew up in Nowata, Ok, and attended the Nowata school system for his education. He graduated with the Class of 1989, where he was known for his sense of humor and uncanny ability of making everyone laugh. After graduating from school, Walter went to work at Nu-Way Foodliner in Coffeyville,Ks, where customers were known to wait in line just to be able to visit with him.
He relocated to Corpus Christi, Tx in 1999, where he met the love of his life, Jeff Edens. They haveenjoyed living life to the fullest for 27 years, including antiquing, all things fashion, and traveling annually to Disney World and Las Vegas, which was his favorite destination.
Walter loved his family fiercely and had an over-the-top love for his niece Jessica, who he lovinglyreferred to as "Wootie," and her children, Lola, Olivia and Hayes. They were truly blessed with the most loving Uncle they could ever imagine.
Walter had recently began working as the store Manager of WestLake Ace Hardware in Coffeyville, Ks.
Walter is survived by his spouse Jeff Edens, of South Coffeyville, Ok., his mother Deborah Riley (Brinker) of Bartlesville, Ok., his father Walter F. Weakley, Sr. and wife Toni (Tongier) of Coffeyville, Ks., sister Denyse (Weakley) and husband John Jones of Nowata, Ok., niece Jessica (Weakley) and husband Gunner Garretson of South Coffeyville, Ok., great nieces Lola and Olivia, and great nephew Hayes Garretson, sisters-in-law Tammy and Lisa Edens. As well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and acquaintances.
Walter was preceded in death by his most cherished and beloved grandparents William and Elizabeth (Taylor) Weakley, grandfather Eugene Chaney, grandparents Charlie and Janey (Brinker) Powell, Father and mother-in-law Dick and Mary Lee Edens, aunt Deanna Glenn, and uncles Ronnie Chaney and William Weakley, Jr.
Walter had the ability to light up every place he went with his larger-than-life personality and he will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Please join his family at a casual 'come and go' celebration of his life this Saturday, April 25 th , 2026, from 2pm-4pm at the Native American Fellowship, Inc building in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. The NAFI building address is 215 Oklahoma St, South Coffeyville, OK 74072. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Journey Home, 900 NE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.
Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Simplicity Burial & Oklahoma Cremation Centers.
