Listen to Obituary

William (Bill) Hammers, 77, passed away on December 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of deep love, loyalty, music, and family. Born in Independence, MO May 18, 1948 to Minnie Louis Sweet and Norbert Hammers.

William spent most of his life in Southern Utah, though it was in California where he met the love of his life, his wife Jan Luttio-Hammers. Their relationship was a rare and beautiful kind of love-devoted, adventurous, and inspiring to everyone who witnessed it. Together, they shared countless memories traveling on their motorcycle, living life fully side by side. Jan preceded him in death two years ago, and his love for her never faded.

William was a hippie at heart-a free spirit who lived for his family and for music. He played guitar and found comfort and meaning in song, especially his favorite, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Music was not just something he listened to-it was something he felt deeply, just like the connections he built with the people he loved.

Above all else, William lived for his family. He was a devoted father to Aaron, Roberta, Leslie, and Ray, and a proud grandfather to Matthew, Stephanie, Kaleb, Jason, Catherine, Madison, Kailee, Vivian, Jan, Anna, connor, Colton, and Ruby and great-grandfather 11.5 -each one deeply cherished. When circumstances required it, William stepped in without hesitation and raised his grandchildren as his own, offering stability, love, and protection when it was needed most. He gave selflessly, never asking for recognition, only wanting to see his family safe and loved.

He was known for his kind heart, fierce loyalty, and dark sense of humor that could bring laughter even in the hardest moments. William had a way of making people feel seen, accepted, and supported-just by being himself.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness, his spirit lives on in the music he loved, the roads he traveled, and the family he shaped with his unwavering love. William Hammers was deeply loved, profoundly missed, and will be remembered always.
